For Yuko, Argentine Tango is a social dance. “Tango is to connect with your partner, fellow dancers on the floor, and the music – not to show off or impress anyone.” And this principle dictates what she does as a DJ and an organiser. Yuko is one of the founders and organisers of Tango in the Spring. She is also a co-organiser and the resident DJ at the “El Boliche” Monday night milonguita in Canberra. She has DJed at BASH (Buenos Aires in the Southern Highlands), Port Macquarie Tango Festival, and the Czech House Milonga in Melbourne, Hobart Tango Encuentro, Festival City Tango in Adelaide and at Canberra milongas organized by Tango Social Club of Canberra and others. Her musical preference is solidly in the Golden Age tango.
Tango follower, leader, teacher, host and DJ.
I love talking tango. Much less so about me. So here are some double-quick facts. Not wasting too much of anyone’s time.
Nationally, I have taught tango in various places along Australia’s East Coast such as Melbourne, Sydney, Bellingen, Byron Bay, Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. Internationally in Canada, Germany and Switzerland, my country of origin. I’ve also gotten to be the DJ at all these fine places. I am the co-founder of Neo Tango Australia and the organiser of the NeoTangoRage Australia.
As a social media avoidant, I live happily without likes, dislikes and the likes. I love every freakin’ thing about an actual human chat from person to person.
I created my job by fusing my profession (teacher) with my passion (tango). My win? I am shortly before bringing my life’s dream to fruition: my own tango space in Byron Bay. Please, do come and say hello soon.
Several years ago, my beautiful then partner booked us in for the Neo Tango Rave in Bremen, Germany. I mention it here because ever since I like exploring Neo Tango. Some creatives shun it but not me. It is exciting to connect with people over preserving the fire of tango.
This is how I sum up my job. I help people fall in love with tango. Help leaders and followers to gain new skills. Build trust with my audience and guests to help broaden their idea of tango music. Period. Exclamation mark.
I do have a life aside from tango. I love bush walking, skiing, cycling tours and language studies abroad. And not to forget, I do love other people’s cooking.

Fabian Conca a well-known and respected DJ in the tango community has been playing music for the famous Milonga "Tango Entre Amigos" in Sydney since 2001, as well making appearances as a guest DJ in many Milongas and Festivals in Australia and abroad. Fabian has a very defined style, with a combination of a well balance selection of Rhythmic and Melodic tunes from the 1920's through the Golden Age of Tango till the present, a mix of music for all taste that would guarantee to keep you dancing all night long.
Jamie fell in love with tango and tango music during an extended stay
over several years in Buenos Aires. Since then, he has been DJing in
Europe and Australia. His style is influenced most strongly from the
traditional milongas of downtown Buenos Aires. He is fascinated by the way that each orchestra has its own unique flavour and how every dancer has their own response to each and every one of them. As a DJ, his aim is that the dancers will be able to leave the milonga with something that they did not have when they entered the hall!
